xx Game Informer Recognizes TimeSplitters Rewind
April 18, 2013, 08:40:59 PM by Undead Priest52
I was skimming through this month's Game Informer magazine, when I looked up in the corner of Page 24, and saw Cortez. My mouth literally opened at that. Although it's just a mention of something we already know, it really surprised me to see a mention (albeit a small one) of TimeSplitters in the magazine.

Anyway, this isn't a huge deal, but I felt it was worth having a thread, seeing as most likely no one else here reads Game Informer magazines. Maybe just a couple of users do.

Here's a picture of it:

For anyone who does not find the words in the picture legible, here is what it says:

TimeSplitters Rewind is coming, thanks to a group of hardcore fans. Crytek - owner of the IP since it acquired original series' developer Free Radical - has given the group permission to make the game with CryEngine 3. The ...

xx TimeSplitters Respawns onto PC
March 15, 2013, 04:00:25 PM by Jolteon

The cult classic shooter series is finally making a comeback. And yes, there will be monkeys.

Never underestimate a dedicated fan base. After Free Radical kicked the bucket and was purchased by Crytek, it looked like there was no hope for a new entry to the much-loved TimeSplitters franchise. In spite of this, a few optimistic supporters started a petition begging for a TimeSplitters 4. And by "a few," I mean 75,000. Crytek, as the current owner of the IP, wasn't impressed enough to justify developing a new installment, but it did the next-best thing: the company gave a team of 25 talented fans official permission to resurrect the series with a new game. This fan-directed project aims to capture the best parts of the TimeSplitters trilogy, and has been appropriately dubbed TimeSplitters Rewind.

The team was permitted to use assets from the main TimeSplitters games, but declined in favor of rebuilding everything from scratch in CryEngine 3. Using an updated ...

xx Crytek giving support to a CryENGINE 3 TimeSplitters mod
November 28, 2012, 04:57:15 PM by FezzyBear
Cairn Trenor from the forums just posted this up on the '100,000 Strong for TimeSplitters 4' Facebook group, and figured I'd put it up here for anybody interested.
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/11/29/crytek-give-the-go-ahead-for-timesplitters-mod/

I have just had word from Crytek that they are going to permit and support a TimeSplitters CryEngine mod. I am now looking for modders that can handle the CryEngine. If i manage to get a group together, then they may let us use assets from the original TimeSplitters game! So the idea is to build a TimeSplitters all-in-one. All the levels, all the characters and all the weapons.

If you are interested then contact me at - Killerwesik@gmail.com or contact me on Skype - Cairn_Trenor. This is BIG for anyone that wants to get into the gaming industry!

xx More on why TimeSplitters 4 was rejected by publishers. [Full interview]
November 27, 2012, 07:05:16 AM by Joshed7

It seems there was a multi character campaign as well. Other than that, nothing we didn't already know.

Here's the full interview:

Here are some choice quotes I've picked out that I found interesting:

When we spoke to David Doak a few years ago he detailed that TimeSplitters 4 would have featured multiple parodies of other popular shooters. How far did you get with the idea and what games were featured?

xx TimeSplitters HD petition needs more votes says Crytek
November 14, 2012, 04:34:46 AM by Jolteon
Source: http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/917870-timesplitters-hd-petition-needs-more-votes-says-crytek

Crytek has once again hinted they’re interested in a HD version of TimeSplitters, but claim the small number of votes on its online petition proves there’s not much of an audience.

German developer Crytek has put the ball firmly in the fans’ court when it comes to a HD version of TimeSplitters, saying that so far they’ve not gained as many petition singers as they need to convince the company’s bean counters.

CEO and president Cevat Yerli brought up the petition himself, when speaking to Game Informer, but admitted that, ‘unfortunately the petition doesn’t look that convincing. If the petition picks up it will be an even better argument for us.’

‘At a personal level, I’m a big fan of Timesplitters 2,’ he said. ‘For me, I would love to ...
