xx TimeSplitters 4 'is not in development', Crytek confirms
April 27, 2012, 06:12:00 AM by rob1983
Bad News  http://www.computerandvideogames.com/345587/timesplitters-4-is-not-in-development-crytek-confirms/

Quote
"For Timesplitters 4, with ever spiralling development costs, massive teams and endless crunch we decided on a more radical development strategy.

"In short, the experiment was to implement the infinite monkey theorem. With cloning being a far too expensive option, we spent all of the development budget on buying monkeys on the black market.

"Those seven monkeys are now sat in a room with typewriters and lots of mirrors, and we fully expect Timesplitters 4 to be finished soon. Rumours are that they haven't written any code but just tease the press from time to time. Those damn monkeys.

"PS: anyone got any bananas?"

xx TimeSplitters 4: "We've seen it running", claim trusted OXM sources.
April 25, 2012, 03:22:00 AM by FezzyBear
The mag's latest UK issue reports that a Crytek UK FPS follow-up could indeed be real, but notes that even if it is in development "that's no guarantee that it'll be released."

OXM writes: "Trusted OXM sources have claimed that they've seen TimeSplitters 4 running. That's no guarantee that it'll be released - at least one version of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was cancelled without ever being announced - but it's a promising sign.

"If we do get a proper sequel, we're likely to see the old games appear, too," it notes.

The TimeSplitters FPS series has been on a hiatus since the 2005 release of the third game, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect on PS2, Xbox and GameCube.

A fourth game has, however, been rumoured for some time, most recently by a report citing a 'high-ranking industry source at Crytek' which claimed development on the fourth game...

xx TSP Exclusive: Crytek Interview (Part 2) - More Answers
April 09, 2012, 11:38:55 AM by FezzyBear
It's been a long time coming, but here are some more of those delicious answers. See if you can spot my favourite answer.

1. Are there any really hidden secrets/Easter eggs in any of the TimeSplitters Games that we might not have discovered yet?
The secrets of time and space are contained within the section of TimeSplitters: Future Perfect where four Cortez's appear to help each other out.  Anyone who manages to understand what is going on becomes aware of the fundamental paradox at the heart of existence and is instantly erased from history as a result.  It's impossible to say how many brilliant minds have been lost this way. It's best not to think about it.

2. Are there button cheats for TimeSplitters like there was in Goldeneye?
There are but they were added by one person and he refused to tell anyone else, and has probably now forgotten them.  Still, if anyone can assemble an infinite number of monkeys and set them to mashing the buttons they will e...

xx Crytek UK working on TWO secret projects
March 11, 2012, 06:52:48 PM by FezzyBear
This story comes from the blog of somebody who has received an industry lecture from Karl Hilton recently. Even though it's littered with errors and such, it seems like a reliable source due to the nature of the blog itself and the other posts on it.

Most of the story is just relaying the gaming industry things that Karl talked about during the lecture, but he then goes on to write that after he said he couldn't talk about Homefront 2 due to disclaimers, that Crytek (UK, I presume) were 'working on 2 secret projects which again, we can't hear about'.

Before Karl opened up the room for questions he spoke about the current situation of Crytek, such as a project that is in progress right now, He told us that Crytek are developing Homefront 2 for THQ, but unfortunately due to disclaimers in contracts sadly, that is all he could tell us at this time! He also sp...

xx TSP Exclusive: Crytek Interview (Part 1) - Karl Hilton
February 16, 2012, 05:51:12 PM by Drifting
The wait is over! Tom Ebsworth (Cry_Tom) of Crytek has graciously forwarded our questions to the people at Crytek UK who worked on the TimeSplitters games. Replies have been slow to come, but Karl Hilton, the Managing Editor at Crytek UK, has managed to find a few minutes to answer some of our queries.

The original questions are in bold; Hilton's answers are in regular font.

1. Were any of the characters in the games related to any of the people you know in real life, through traits or mannerisms etc?

Yes, more than one and that’s all I can say about that.

2. Why do you think TSFP Didn't do as well as you expected it to?

It’s still a mystery really. In every aspect I think it was a better game and the online functionality, for its time, was excellent.

3.  @Team - Which TimeSplitters was your favorite to ...
