Never heard the term used for firearms I don't think. I always thought it was something along the lines of gaining unwanted attention from the police.
Sort of like if you had wanted stars in Grand Theft Auto and you had to 'lose the heat' from the cops.

I know this is slightly different, but in Crysis 2, Nathan Gould refers to the government as being 'scared as Calamari', which refers to the Calamari that hid in the cupboard when the Spacestation was invaded back in TimeSplitters 2.

That's excellent. Although I thought Crytek UK only arrived on the scene when they had to do the multiplayer aspect of the game. I didn't think they'd have any sort of power over the dialogue of one of the main characters in the single player.
If it's true though, then that's a great spot. Maybe calamari are known for being scared, and that's where FRD picked it up from.

A reference to the fact that there is no option to jump in TimeSplitters.
A reference to the movie, 'White Men Can't Jump'. It was about basketball, and you have to throw things through hoops with the Temporal Uplink.

Also known as Monkey Curling.
Reference to the phrase, "It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey".

The Timesplitters: Future Perfect rendition of Harry Tipper is likely based off of Austin Powers.
Also, there is an arcade league challenge named "Babes in the Woods", which is the title of an old tale: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babes_in_the_Wood

The title is a play on words: The "babes" in the mission are not adults, but teenage girls, and are also good looking girls. It could also reference the babes' unfortunate fate, being killed by Harry Tipper quite a few times.

Might have already been stated, but the title is an obvious reference to Turok. However, the Cerebral Bore was also a famous weapon of the franchise:

Well, not a bad rip-off.
But "Bite my crunchy brown ass!" was clearly from "Bite my shiny metal ass!" from Bender.
