Has anyone ever wondered what happened to this map?

In arcade league there are at least 2 (maybe more I can't remember) matches where you are in the dam. However it is just the front area of the dam where its that little open space and all of the buildings. It was a great map, what has always bothered me is why it was not available in multiplayer? It would have been a perfect map for small games 1v1s or 2v2s. It was the only arcade league map not available in multiplayer. Has anyone else wondered why it was not included? Despite only being able to play it in a couple arcade league games I would go so far as to say it is one of the best multiplayer maps in the game, even tho its basically just a section of a story mode level but it works perfectly for multiplayer. I wonder if they intended to add it to the regular arcade maplist and just forgot or ran out of time or something.

I read somewhere in the depths of the TS wiki it was planned but wasn't in for unknown reasons. i agree, i think it woulda been the best map! perhaps some sort of way to get to the other side woulda been neat to!

Yea that would be awesome or sniping off of the top of the dam.  That would be a giant map tho.

Yeah, I always hated that that map wasn't available in Arcade Custom.  Maybe they thought it was too small for ten bots?  Seems a pretty dumb reason not to include it, though; especially since Compound is about the same size.  Maybe there was some other glitch in it with certain settings that they hid in the Arcade Leagues by not using those settings.

...even tho its basically just a section of a story mode level but it works perfectly for multiplayer.

In TS1 all Story maps were available in Arcade.  And in TS2 a section of Chicago, Aztec, and Robot Factory were all available in Arcade.

In Goldneye 64 you could use gameshark to alter the game into playing single player levels in multyplayer. Is there a way to do that with gameshark for TS2? Has anyone tried making any code alterations for TS2?
And TS1 was different the maps were made for multiplayer and they just set up a story objective around it. Story mode was basically just CTF against a bunch of bots. Tomb was the only map that was altered for single player (it was a lot bigger and featured an outdoor area) but probably becasue that was the first story map and they wanted to make it impressive and Egyptian looking, but that's just my guess I don't know for sure. For TS2 that is true they just cut out sections of single player levels for a couple arcade maps, but they were small enclosed areas (no links to other sections of the story map). unlike the Dam which you could see across, maybe they were afraid people would find a way to glitch across the lake. Again those are just some guesses tho. I think this map would have been prefect for 1v1 duels. To this day I am upset they cut it from arcade.

To my knowledge, there isn't a way to do that.  But I really have no idea.  I never really played around with GameSharks much.  The only one I ever had for PS2 wouldn't let me enter new codes, so it was pretty useless.

That's true.  I still would have liked to see an arcade version of all the maps in Story mode, though.

...maybe they were afraid people would find a way to glitch across the lake.

I can't see them removing it for that reason alone.

Somebody discovered a hidden TS2 Tileset with Action Replay that was on the disc but not playable normally and since this map was originally planned for multiplayer I'm guessing there must be some version of it on the disc somewhere either that or a way to use the arcade league version for regular arcade. It would be curious to experiment and see. I'm no computer wizard and I'm not good at figuring out stuff like that but I bet if somebody who know what they were doing tried manipulating it there must be a way they could unlock it for regular arcade.

Perhaps a bit like this? B) Though that would be a sizable map, sweet for Team Deathmatches I can imagine.

The map in the league does look pretty good but I can imagine a number of small issues that would prevent it being that great in custom. But if that was the case they should have added it anyway, in the unlikely case it was rubbish then they should have given people the option to play it. I guess they forgot, didn't bother or didn't even think of it despite it being in the league.

I think I've said this before but I think the end part of Wild West would be an awesome multiplayer map.
This one, I'm not so sure about but it worked well in the arcade league ones so I don't see why not. As you said, it would work well for small matches like 1v1 matches. This is enforced by the fact that one of the Arcade League matches on this map WAS a 1v1 I think. The other one was shrink wasn't it?

I didn't even think about the west. The end  area where you are in that open canyon or whatever it is with the mine cart track and buildings and such would be awesome. It seems for the maps they did use for arcade from story, aztec, robot factory and nightclub, the only one that I liked for arcade was nightclub, the other 2 I could have done without. They should have got rid of aztec and robot factory and put in Wild West and the Dam.

That elevated railway wouldn't be good for Arcade.  It's too long, exposed, and precarious for anyone to ever make it across alive, so that would need to be altered.  Honestly, I think the first half of the map would be better for an Arcade map.  I'd rather have a shootout in a Western street with a bunch of buildings than in a big open canyon with a couple buildings and a tunnel.  Really though, the half before the checkpoint and the half after the checkpoint could both make fun stand-alone Arcade maps.

They should have got rid of aztec and robot factory and put in Wild West and the Dam.

Or just had them all.
