I have no girlfriend. I live alone, in a cave.

This. It would have justified your reading of Twilight.

I have no girlfriend. I live alone, in a cave.

Make fire. Then burn Twilight.

The Hunger Games. From what I heard, it's a very good book, but it's a seemingly bad series from reusing events and apparently having the same winner(s). Guess I'll just get done reading the entire series, which has about 4 books, and then wait for the inevitable movie. It happens to every series, I guess.

Finished "In the Mountains of Madness," starting in on "The Shadow over Innsmouth."

Having just finished the second in the Darth Bane series, within hours or so of it arriving in the mail, I can safely say I hope they make a movie or three out of that one. Set in the old republic, told, mainly, from the point of view of the Sith as their order reforms, it'd give a refreshing new outlook on the Star Wars universe that, on it's own, would make up for the bollock sweat droplets that were episodes I, II and III (albeit in lesser amounts as the trilogy progressed). Plus the protagonist's such a badass he'd put to shame Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I just finished "Survivor" by Chuck Pahalniuk. I liked it, but not as much as "Rant" one of his other novels.

About to start something else. I was going to start "Breakfast for Champions" by Vonnegut, but I also just purchased "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman which I'm really excited to start.

Over my two week journey of adventure, I've read:
'H.M.S Ulysses' by Alistair Maclean. The horrors of a naval war in which you more than often never see your enemy. Great story that focuses on the relationships held between crewmates faced with insurmountable odds, with a lot of action thrown in too.

'Dune' by Frank Herbert. Superb writing skills here. Detailed analysis of human psychology and with a cracking political story to boot. The Dune universe is just so expansive and incredible that I miss reading about it. I'll maybe pick up some of the sequel books, but I've been told by a friend that it starts to go in another direction after the first one.

I'm in the middle of reading 'The Travels' by Marco Polo. A bit preachy and such, but extremely interesting to read a firsthand account of what it was like to be in the mind of one of the most travelled explorers ever to be born. All superb reads, and they didn't cost me a penny.
I think this would be fun if every body was a monkey and have your neck snapped.

Finished "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." What a chilling story. If you think Stephen King is scary, give this a whirl.

I think I may re-read Victor Hugo's classic Les Miserables soon. I read the abridged version in high school, so I'm thinking of seeking out the full text this time around. But I worry that I may give up once I hit the notorious Waterloo interlude...

I'm now reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy. Heard it was a great book, and it's hilarious so far.

I polished off The Hobbit a while ago. I never actually read that one in grade school, so I wanted to get to know it before the films where released. Compared to how the lord of the rings is written and paced, it's definitely meant for younger readers. Still worth a read though.

I believe that Tolkien actually wrote the book for his children. It's definitely a lighter read than the LotR trilogy, but I think that everyone that likes the series should read it at some point. Reading it before the rest of the series definitely puts some backstory in perspective.

H.P. Lovecraft is a great writer. Well not so great in the writing style itself but I love the way he creates the atmosphere of cosmic horror.

At the moment I am reading a book with some of Edgar Allan Poes storys (in german).

Have you ever read H.P. Lovecraft's story Herbert West-Reanimator? That one would probably be my favorite of his.
