And yet another song collecting thread. Atmosphere in movies is defined pretty much by the music. So just post wich songs and themes from movies are your favourites. Because I think everyone here likes other films this would be a good opportunity to show the others, who may not watched the film, awesome music.

Because there are so many obvious ones I will try to start with something else.

Prophecy Theme - Brian Eno - Dune Soundtrack

That sound just makes you feel like beeing in the endless deserts of Arrakis.

Dune - Main Theme

Starts slow but gets more aggressive later.

So that were the first things that came to my mind. I will add more later if folks here like the thread. But now I need to gather more spice for house Ordos... *cough*

The Last Samurai Soundtracks

Despite the Tom Cruise.... this is my one of, if not, the favorite movie of all time. The music is OUTSTANDING. Hanz Zimmer really outdid himself on this movie. This is in fact,t he only sound track to a movie I have purchased.

I hate threads like this because no one ever listens to the picks.

The Fog Soundtrack 01 - Theme From 'The Fog'

Everything John Carpenter makes is so fantastic. I was tempted to post the Halloween theme, but went with a less obvious choice.

John Barry - "Thunderball" (Thunderball, 1965)

Thunderball was the definitive Bond movie of the '60s, and its music, composed by John Barry, is no less great.

Ecstasy of Gold - The Good, the Bad & the Ugly Theme (Ennio Morricone)

Westerns have always been a favorite of mine, and Ennio Morricone is one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, so this choice was a no-brainier.

Henry Mancini - A Touch of Evil - Main Title

I'm a sucker for noir, and these films does a great job of capturing that fabled aesthetic.

Bernard Herrmann - Taxi Driver (theme)

Taxi Driver offers a stunning snapshot of the cold and dirty streets of New York, and it's stellar score really takes the film's depiction to the next level.

Main Hoon Don (Original) (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

Probably my most obscure pick, this song comes from the 1978 Indian action film Don. It's a great song, and one of the classics of Bollywood cinema.

That track in Taxi Driver is pretty great but they play pretty much the whole thing at the end and it felt a little dragged out.

A great song that fits a great film.

Agreed with all the Westerns, so I'll pick some other tracks for here.

Michael Kamen - Bachianos Brazil Samba

(Not to mention the original versions used throughout, but the Samba at the end is too good to pass up.)

Blues Brothers - Everybody Needs Somebody

The Doors - The End (Apocalypse Now Remix)
Just spotted I was beaten to this song by I_ROBOFISH.

clubbed to death - Matrix soundtrack

A great piece of music ruined by being overused to death in Youtube. It has a good 90's Hong Kong kind of feel and am I the only one who thinks that this would suit a TimeSplitters level similar to Neotokyo?
