So, you just decided to delay a fundamental question because there was a stalemate?
I agree. Shotguns are not really an issue. We should stick to trying to figure out which engine to go with.

That's nice, but you're not really a tiebreaker vote. If every poll is just a referendum whose results can be changed by your whim, then what's the point?

Also, those Zelda videos are highly impressive. I imagine it must have been a lot of work to replicate all of that.

The guy that made those videos said that he ripped all the content from Twilight Princess, including the AI, Animation, Sounds, etc...  He also says that his Animating and Modeling skills are terrible, so ripping is his only option, even though he'd rather have his own models, etc. As far as I know, this guy is working on the whole thing himself, he is only a coder.

It took him a year to learn to study the Unreal Development Kit and Unreal Scripting.  B)

I thought about doing the same thing for Timesplitters when I get a new laptop. So far, music is the only thing I can do for this.

that is true. you can't just shut down a poll while there is a tie and say "we will do it this way".
If it stays a tie for a couple more days or so I think there should be a revote that is strictly from the team developing the project, since they will be the ones doing the work, so they have the most valid opinion on the best engine for this project.

Either way, the poll should really try to find who actually has the skills available for each engine (we can't have a community project involving 2-3 people), rather than just which one will be better.

Source and UT2004 (if it's not too different from the Quakes) don't have to be excised of anything, which means you can play around with them as you learn to code, and start molding the project.
Which means you can start right away.
Which means you guys shouldn't be scared to choose one, and choose one.

What are you trying to tell us? I don't mean to be rude but I didn't get what you actually wanted to tell us with this.
We should base our decision on the least effort engine, and if it turns out that the ut 2k4 engine is a bit annoying because of its texture baking but excels in customizing the existing game modes and bot behaviour then it should be the ut engine. If the source engine has some key elements that help us reduce our work load by half and get a match with custom game modes running then it should be the source engine. We gotta do a thorough evaluation (which includes how rigging, animating, visualFX, and other stuff has to be done for each engine)

No offense intended, but:  Why is Gold Source being considered?
I am not an expert.
But it is so out of date, is it really worth it? Everything can be done on Source that can be done on that.
I know some like the retro feel of it, but retro feels can be achieved on new engines with less work.

Meh, just wanted to see if people have skills in it.
And again, Source and UT2004 are tied atm.

I'll go ahead and vote Ut2004 because It's the only engine that I've had experience in out of everything on the list. The game itself resembles Timesplitters so much that the TS music fits.

I meant you might turn up some momentum if somebody were to play with the secondary fires in UT, un-lemmingize the bots when you turn off gravity if it happens, rig powerups, things like that.
