Monty Python defeats Back to the Future 8-3.

Match 8 is between Avatar and Dawn of the Dead.

Avatar (Cheese)
A paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home.

Avatar - Official Trailer (HD)

Dawn of the Dead (Comatos)
Following an ever-growing epidemic of zombies that have risen from the dead, two Philadelphia SWAT team members, a traffic reporter, and his television-executive girlfriend seek refuge in a secluded shopping mall.

Dawn of the Dead easily clinches it. Avatar was just a bloated, hackneyed pseudo-epic.

I don't know how, but I've managed to make it this far in life without seeing Dawn of the Dead, but from the trailer it reminds me of Left 4 Dead (but obviously DOTD inspired L4D), so might be quite good, even if the zombies just look like people who put on too much make-up :tarryhipper:. Avatar was the complete opposite - while it looked good and was a special effects masterpiece, I fail to remember any part of the actual story that I enjoyed, so it can't get my vote.

This. All this.

Avatar has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and one of the most overrated piles of SHIT to ever be put into theater. Dawn of the Dead is a damn good zombie movie; and it can blow Ava-shit out of the water any day.

I suggest putting (1978) next to Dawn in the poll in case the off chance some one thinks it's the 2004 remake without reading the thread.

It's insane how that movie was made, filming when the mall was closed at night, then cleaning up everything before the mall opened in the morning

I would suggest watching the first 3 "Dead" movies in order Tuppence870

I literally fell asleep trying to watch Avatar on DVD. It was almost pure camp how the characters were so cardboard. I couldn't believe that people actually liked it. Maybe one day I can try to watch it without falling asleep.

Dawn of the Dead defeats Avatar 9-2.

Match 9 is between Kick-Ass and Shaun of the Dead.

Kick-Ass (doom guy 64)
Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to become a super-hero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so.

Shaun of the Dead (FezzyBear)
A man decides to turn his moribund life around by winning back his ex-girlfriend, reconciling his relationship with his mother, and dealing with an entire community that has returned from the dead to eat the living.

This may sound surprising but Kick Ass is a waaaay better film than SOTD, which is good but not great (Hot Fuzz is much better). I was so surprised at how funny, unpredictable and great Kick Ass was.

Shaun of the Dead is one of the most flawless films ever created, so it gets my vote. Plus, I chose it for this tournament.
Kick Ass was good, for Nicolas Cage. The rest of the film was all right.
I think this would be fun if every body was a monkey and have your neck snapped.

Yeah, me too. It was a damn good film..
But Shawn of the Dead is just too great to be beaten by it.

Damn, I knew you were going to say that. I bet you was pissed off when he was killed and there was like still 40 mins left?

Surprisingly not as much as I could have been. He put in a stellar performance for the whole film, and the death scene was the icing on the cake, CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IILD.
