To be honest, if their was a new Timesplitters in the works, the gameplay aspect's of the game would have to change to suit a more 'Maturer' and 'Hardcore' market.  In other words, how the newer generation of gamer's see games.  This would in some ways change the over all feel of Timesplitters.  One question to be asked is if the game would suit the slow paced action of the modern market where people hide behind corners or fall back as their health needs to re charge?  An other question is how will characters be unlocked?  Will it be if you manage to complete certain challenges or if they will be unlocked via online progression (hopefully not)?  Not to mention people grasp on 'Mature' gameplay either.  The game would be bashed like shit by reviewers if it goes for an arcade stile than a CoD or Battlefield approach to the modern market.  The better idea is to re release the first three games, possibly in the same package.  I for some reason think that the modern video game market wont accept a game like the classic Timesplitters if you cant get Kill Streak Bonasses or upgrades depending on your level online.

Bonasses

Did anyone else read this word completely wrong?

Anyway, the worries that you have detailed are exactly those of the publishers that CryTek UK approached with TS4. Due to these worries they had a hard time finding a publisher, whether or not they were successful is still unknown; much to our annoyance.

I personally see a place for TS4 (of course I do, I'm a fairly ling standing member of this site.) in the current market and I think it could be a reasonable success. Publishers are not so sure, again to our annoyance.

Damn it.  I rely need a dictionary.  Anyway, I was just stating some of my concerns.  There are a lot of people out there that believe that the old, arcade way of playing games are the worst.  I for one hate how obsessed people are at getting kill streaks or seeing their 'game winning kill' displayed at the end of a match.  I want Timesplitters to stay the way it was and not some CoD or Battlefield clone with different set peaces.

I guess if someone is a fan of the series, they don't rely want to many changes to be made.  just look at Bioshock Infinite.  looks like an amazing game (Apart from some apparent gameplay choices) and may possibly be executed perfectly.  However, people will still complain that it is not in Rapture.

the only changes needed are iron sights, it wouldn't really give it a different feel.
aslong as it has a good story,no killstreak type shit or regenerating health, it will be fine, everyones getting sick of cod and it is infact cod that must change or die.

Iron sight is what killed fps' in the first place. If they want a good sequel, they'll leave that terrible feature out. Timesplitters is too fast-paced for that

Iron sights would indeed be horrible for TimeSplitters. I wouldn't mind having an option to toggle a game-winning killcam though.
I think this would be fun if every body was a monkey and have your neck snapped.

On a more pessimistic note in an effort to keep the conversation going, if this secret project ISN'T Timesplitters, what would you say that means for the series overall? I'd say it would make the chances of TS4 seeing the light of day pretty much zero, but then again we've said that before and we still have hope. Also, don't UK have 2 secret projects? Or have I misheard?

EDIT: As In, is one of the Homefront?

No. Crytek has a lot of series that they work on. Even if neither of their announced "secret projects" are TS, that does not mean they are not working on it, it is very likely they have actual secret projects (that are not in public awareness).

Also, even if they are not working on TS this very minute they may down the line. They will always have TS and they know their is a committed fan-base, it just might not be a priority right now.

But that said I have a unfortunate feeling by the time the next TS comes out it will probably be so changed because it is being run in a different studio and many of the original Devs from TS1 are long gone (including Doak). So Crytek may try to make TS into a whole different type of game. And it will probably just be a horrible TS adaptation. So that is another reason I am not holding my breathe for TS4 because I have a feeling it will be turned into something that does not even feel like TS and that I will be severely disappointed.
