OXM writes: "Trusted OXM sources have claimed that they've seen TimeSplitters 4 running. That's no guarantee that it'll be released - at least one version of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was cancelled without ever being announced - but it's a promising sign.
"If we do get a proper sequel, we're likely to see the old games appear, too," it notes.
The TimeSplitters FPS series has been on a hiatus since the 2005 release of the third game, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect on PS2, Xbox and GameCube.
A fourth game has, however, been rumoured for some time, most recently by a report citing a 'high-ranking industry source at Crytek' which claimed development on the fourth game is underway with a plan for its release on the next-gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox 3 consoles.
More recently than that, Official PlayStation Magazine UK claimed in its rumours section that a new TimeSplitters instalment will be announced soon.
Developer Crytek UK - originally Free Radical before Crytek rescued it from meltdown - officially confirmed to CVG back in 2007 that work on Timesplitters 4 had begun. It even released concept art before its long-time no-show stirred up rumours of its cancellation.

I don't follow this, surely if they have seen it working then the game is quite far through development. So why would they can it if it has already quite far through development? The only reason I can think of is it turning out that the game is appalling an not worth the time, and I doubt that would be the case.
The article doesn't give any indication of when they saw it working, though I imagine that it is beyond how it was when FRD went bust since I recall they were still working on the engine no?
Also, on the scan, it says: "If we do get a proper sequel, we're likely to see he old games appear, too. Let the Robofish army rise again!" Is this based on anything do you think? (The old games bit, not the Robofish army, that would be a right pain to fight against.) Finally, those American footballers have really big heads.
