Microsoft to offer $99 Xbox 360...with a catch

Microsoft will now offer an option to pay $99 for an Xbox 360 and Kinect, as well as 2 years of Xbox Live Gold. The catch is that the consumer will pay $15 a month for the next 2 years before it is considered paid off, and the early termination fee for the contract runs about $250. The deal will run you about $450 overall, whereas buying all of these options through conventional payment would save you around $40.

As of now, it's only being offered in Microsoft stores. Interesting, though, don't you think?

What do you mean by Interesting?  Interesting that they are doing what my household has been doing for the past few years with the washing machine or Interesting that they are selling something for more than it is worth?

This is stupid. Almost all the comments I've read a a bunch of websites about this are negative, with the odd person saying they'd buy it. It's like people who get crazy phones contracts because they're in way over their head. A brand new Xbox 360 costs $200 today, that's not including all the used ones you can buy for cheaper.

It's just pilot program at this stage, and I really can't see it taking off.

It's a nice bundle if you absolutely know you'll be connected to Xbox Live all the time. But I wonder if anything happens if you get disconnected, does it keep you from playing?
