Microsoft: Major Announcement Monday

MICROSOFT is being secretive about a "major" announcement it plans to make in Los Angeles on Monday.

The company invited media to an afternoon event, but it says it won't divulge the location until that morning. In an email, the company says, "This will be a major Microsoft announcement - you will not want to miss it."

Microsoft declined further comment.

The venue suggests it has to do with the entertainment industry.

the venue suggests it may be to do with the entertainment industry? Perhaps they're going to announce something to do with their expected XBox720 console? Perhaps a new smartphone? Who knows. They seem to be bigging it up something chronic though.

Why would they forego E3 to announce a new console now? If they really are choosing now to unveil the Dodge Durango or whatever it will be called, perhaps the thought was to abstract themselves from the noise of E3 for extra attention, but that's not a particularly sagacious move.

I don't care too much to be honest but I just really don't like there consoles at all. Sony and Nintendo make a lot better consoles than they do. Don't get me wrong they are a brilliant company but they should have stuck with PC's.

I doubt it will be a new console, mostly because of the new games being developed specifically for the 360. This will most likely be an update to something or some new accessories.

They did not say if it was good or bad.  After all, this announcement may be about the lawsuit against Microsoft from Motorola.  I don't know my self if they won or not but it may be a bad announcement.  Or it could be a new peace of software for PC's.  You will never know.

God I hate Microsofts marketing for that console.  Its more to me like 'Hey you.  We herd that you like games.  So we thought screw that, we will just give you some more apps!'  I mean I like how they are trying to make a Media Sharing device out of a console but do we rely need to check up on the latest match, which I might add that they are genuanlly sports that Americans are interested in, when we can do that online at any given time with our phones or computers?  The problem is that the Xbox could be a good console as well, if Microsoft could remember what makes a console a competitor.  That is by delivering exclusives for every gamer!

I doubt its the new Xbox. Already heard they think that the 360 got a few more years left in it. Usually, when companies announce new consoles, they move on to focus on that and the past console is left in the dust.

Gaming has been between "utter-crap" and "Meh" lately. It will be major as they say, but its not going to be something mind blowing for everyone.

It's not necessarily about Xbox, it might be about Windows 8, or perhaps something else. A tablet maybe?

Sorry to tell everyone this (not rely because the next Xbox like the others will most likely have some technical problem!), the new announcement is infact a new brand of tablet.  Yes, microsoft is trying out something new.  I now wonder how the Xbox comunity is going to react to such an announcement let alone the PC.  Yep, we have to put up with an other year where games are down graded thanks to the bloody Xbox 360.  Thank you Microsoft!  I hope you all the luck during the wave of hate mail.
